Preschool with the most beautiful garden in Prague

Branch in Křižíkova Street  120 metres from Křižíkova metro station [map]

Originally, this building was home to our preschoolers 🙂 Even back then, it had a fantastic 650 m² garden that hardly feels like it’s in Prague – thanks to its courtyard location, it remains peaceful and perfectly safe. Over time, we enhanced it with new plants, swings, and relaxation zones, creating the beautiful space you see in the picture.

As our capacity needs grew, we moved the oldest children to our second building on Sokolovská Street, leaving this space entirely to our youngest ones. Today, it is home to a small group of up to 20 children aged two and above.

How do we take care of the babies?

What you won’t see in the pictures is how things actually work here. Until 2024, we welcomed children as young as 9 months old, but in 2025, we’re making a change – to maintain a certain level of development within the Malvína system, we now accept children from the age of 2.

For many, this is their very first experience being completely away from their parents. So many new faces! Our priority is to ensure they feel safe, accepted, and loved – just like at home.

That’s why we have an exceptional caregiver-to-child ratio: four caregivers for a maximum of 20 children, ensuring each child gets plenty of attention.

In reality, a full group is rare – many children attend part-time, travel with their parents, or are occasionally ill. While the standard ratio is 1 caregiver per 5 children, in practice, it’s often closer to 1 caregiver per 3 children.

We guide children through their first steps toward independence and support their social development. It’s completely normal for them to feel homesick or experience new, unfamiliar emotions throughout the day. They need comfort, patience, and gentle explanations about how things work. We’re here for them, providing constant support.

Honestly, there’s no other way – it’s impossible not to want to help, as children at this age are simply adorable ♥

At the end of the day, we discuss each child’s progress with parents, sharing observations about their behavior, successes, and areas for improvement. If we notice any cognitive, motor, or behavioral challenges, we consult with both parents and our special education specialist.

Personality is shaped by the environment

Our personality is influenced by the family background, friends and the environment where we spend time. That is why we pay a lot of attention to the quality of interiors in Malvína and work on them with architects.

We reconstructed interiors in 2020 in cooperation with the No Architects studio. We began to appear in design and architecture magazines in our country and abroad almost as soon as we reopened. Most recently, we were nominated for the Grand Prix of Architects – National Architecture Prize 2021.

The interiors not only look great in the photos, they are also full of ingenious details. Almost every piece of furniture serves as a place to play. You will find plenty of areas to romp with friends and many corners to relax.

The smooth floor is great for driving toy cars and it’s not slippery. The prevailing material is wood, which radiates pleasant warmth and is safe when trying the first steps. Harmonious, calm colours complete the space while not being exceedingly flashy for the babies.

In combination with the garden, the Malvína in Křižíkova street is the best place for children to grow, just 10 minutes from Wenceslas Square.

Fresh food from Bistro Inspirace

We source our lunches and snacks from the professionals at Bistro Inspirace. They cook and bake using primary ingredients without semi-finished products, substitutes, chemical additives, refined sugar, or genetically modified ingredients.

Most meals are naturally gluten-free, as the chefs do not thicken with wheat flour. They incorporate a large amount of vegetables and fresh herbs. In addition to common ingredients, they include unconventional ones such as bulgur, buckwheat, and barley to make the diet as diverse as possible. They also bake homemade pastries and craft excellent spreads.

Adjusting the consistency of food for the youngest children is a given, as is accommodating various dietary restrictions. Throughout the day, children can choose from two types of beverages: unsweetened tea and water.
